Valentines Day in Cairo

Valentines Day in Cairo — there are signs everywhere that Egyptians celebrate this secular holiday.  However, friends in Gaza tell me that the Qur’an does not allow Muslims to celebrate Valentines Day.

Obviously, since Egypt is predominantly a Muslim country, there must be different interpretations about what is permitted.   I wonder if it’s simply a matter of distinguishing between religious and secular holidays.  Or does it have something to do with the heart?
