Amy Goodman’s interview of Glenn Greenwald (a columnist at The Guardian) about Edward Snowden’s leak of classified documents reveals the true nature of the police state in America. Greenwald asks, “Who is actually bringing ‘injury to America‘: those who are secretly building a massive surveillance system or those who inform citizens that it’s being done?”
Most Americans may not be concerned about it, but that should not be surprising to those of us who are. A police state only flourishes in an atmosphere of apathy and ignorance.
Why should any of this be of concern to Gaza and the people who care about the injustices of the Israeli occupation?
The simple answer is —- people who live in a police state cannot influence meaningful change. I’m fearful that the status quo in the Middle East continues until Americans wake up and smell the coffee.
